Project Objectives The project aims to minimize industrial pollution of soils through the study of the lindane degradation by microorganisms (fungus)
Required skills The student should have general knowledge on Microbiology and Chemistry
Techniques to be used The research work will be conducted by using lab techniques to investigate which microorganisms are better to the degradation of lindane (byproduct of insecticide production) in the polluted soils
Schedule of Activities During the first month the student will know de lab routine and the research techniques he will deal with. The research will be conducted at the second, third and fourth months. The compilation of data and statistical analyses will be performed at the fifth month and the report will be done at the end of sixth month. During the project execution, the student should have contact with other experiments being conducted at the lab.
