For such Abstract please use the format described in the ESBES2 www site or in the 2nd Announcement booklet. For those Authors presenting a full paper please use the format of this page. A 4 to 6-page paper is expected, including this short abstract, of about 100 words, in single line spacing. 1. IntroductionWe expect papers to start with an introductory section. There is no limit of size imposed for full papers, but we expect an average of 4-6 page papers. These will be published in the Proceedings which will be handed to the participants. The deadline for the reception of your manuscript is July 1. Please note that, later, a limited number of Authors will be invited to submit papers for a dedicated issue of the Journal of Biotechnology. 2. Preparation of the manuscriptThe papers will have as many sections as the Authors so wish. Use margins of 2.5 cm in A4 paper. The title should be centered, using 14 point bold Arial typeface. Authors’ names and addresses should be justified left, in 11 point Arial typeface. Use bold font style for the Authors’ names. Leave 1 space below title and authors’ names. Use superscript* for the author to whom correspondence should be addressed. Leave 1 space below address and type no more than 5 key words. Leave 2 spaces and type the abstract. The print is 12 point Times New Roman typeface, 'exactly 15 points' line spacing typing, with 3 points after paragraph. Section titles are 14 point size, bold. Use 'justified' text alignment. Figures and tables should be incorporated in the text and not sent separately. Please Note: A Microsoft Word 6/95 file (paper.doc) may be downloaded from the ESBES-2 web site (http://www.deb.uminho.pt/esbes2). You may use such file to compose and format your paper. 3. About ReferencesList and number all references at the end of the paper. When citing reference in the text, type the corresponding number in square brackets as shown at the end of this sentence [1]. 4. Submission ProcedureFor electronic submission please send a MS Word file (any version, either in .DOC format or compressed) attached with either MIME or BinHex encoding by e-mail to the address: Alternatively, papers can be submitted by snail-mail. In this case authors should submit two copies of the abstract in good quality print and a version on a diskette using Microsoft Word format. 5. ConclusionsIdeally the paper should close with a section of conclusions but this is left to the Author's decision. We look forward to seeing you in Porto, at the 2nd European Symposium on Biochemical Engineering Science. 6.
