Call for Abstracts

All participants are invited to submit abstracts on one of the topics listed below for presentation at MicroBiotec09.

Deadline for abstract submission: August 31th, 2009

Guidelines for submission of abstracts:

In order to standardize the abstract layout please read the preparation guidelines posted in this page.

Abstracts must be submitted by the presenting authors. Each presenting author may submit for presentation one abstract only.

Abstracts may only be submitted online using the ConfTool - Conference Management Tool - based on the following workflow:

  • Access the MicroBiotec09 ConfTool site at
    www.conftool.com/microbiotec09
  • Register or login using your e-mail address
  • Follow the submission steps:
    • Insert authors' information
    • Insert title of contribution
    • Insert abstract as text. You may copy-and-paste from other text programs. Please use italics, bold, special symbols directly available in the edit pane.
    • Select the subject area or topic where you believe that your work fits the best. The selected topic will be used to categorize the abstract in the most appropriate session.
    • Insert the keywords
    • Insert the bibliography (optional)

Please note that faxed abstracts and abstracts not submitted in the proper format will be rejected.

Please note that late abstracts will not be considered.

All abstracts must be submitted and presented in English.

No headings are allowed. However, please structure your text so that the background, objectives, methods, results and conclusions of the study are easily perceptible.

The abstract may not be longer than 2500 characters with spaces and may include references (optional).

The title, authors names and affiliations should not count for the character limit. Italics and Greek letters are permitted. Underlines are not permitted. Tables, charts and other graphics are not permitted.  

The International System of Units (SI) should be used wherever appropriate.

Spelling Guidelines:  

  • Genus and species names should be written in full on first mention and then abbreviated on subsequent mentions.
  • Italicizing will be the responsibility of the author(s).
  • Greek letters and symbols may be used.
  • Non-systematic names (e.g. plural): lower case (streptococci, mycobacteria, chlamydiae).  
  • Generic drug names: lower case (penicillin).
  • Please observe standard English grammar rules including a space after full stops and commas.

 

Abstracts will be subject to a peer review by at least 3 members of the Scientific Committee.

The Scientific Committee makes all final decisions regarding presentation format (poster or oral presentation).

The presenting authors will be notified of acceptance on September 8th, 2009 by email (please make sure to state your correct email address!). If you do not receive a confirmation by email please contact the MicroBiotec09 secretariat.

Abstract authors must register for the congress by September 15th, 2009 or advise us to the MicroBiotec09 secretariat of withdrawal by this date.

Authors are entitled to the early registration fee if registered before September 15th, 2009.

The reviewers may decide that the abstract content, while otherwise acceptable, does not fit the interest area of the topic to which it was submitted. In this case, the abstract is forwarded to the review committee of the topic more closely aligned to the perceived content.

Publication

Registration ensures publication of accepted abstracts in the Conference CD that will be distributed at the moment of registration to all participants.

All accepted abstracts will be made available on the Microbiotec09 website only prior to the congress. No abstract book will be printed.

Presentation Format

Accepted abstracts are to be presented either as a poster or oral presentation. The final decision of the presentation format will be made by the Programme Committee.
